Problem
Our team was tasked with constructing an electric race car for the UCI Energy Invitational race, which we ended up placing 4th out of 16 teams in. We had to assemble every part of the car and make sure it was both fast and energy-efficient to compete against 15 other teams.
The biggest challenge we faced was making sure that all the parts worked together seamlessly. We often had to grind/cut parts down and weld new pieces to the frame.
Solution
I led our team of 3 throughout our time constructing the car. I worked on the brake systems, the electrical systems, the handling systems, and tire mounting systems.
I used SolidWorks to design and print handles and accessories mounts for the car:
I welded hinges and frame parts together to create a sturdy base for the car. This is a picture of the wishbone assembly for tire suspension:
I soldered and organized wires for the electrical system:
I also assembled the brake system.
